Church Secretary

Picture
Linda Steffen joined the staff as part-time church secretary in March 2012.  She was born in Melville, Saskatchewan; the Steffen family moved to Edmonton in the 50's.  Linda joined the
Royal Canadian Air Force when she turned 18 and was trained as an Admin Clerk.  She retired after 33 years. Linda has three grown children (a daughter & two sons), and four grandsons (two musicians and two athletes), as well as two brothers and a sister living in the Edmonton area.  Her aunt and uncle, David and Vi Cook, were married in the newly built Kirk United Church in 1959.

         Dave

Picture
Dave, a long-time member of Kirk, is a volunteer who assists wherever needed in the church and in the office. Dave is at the church office most days of the week.  He helps by answering phone& photocopying.  He's always ready to help the minister and any others at the church. He's a member of the Worship Committee.  On Sunday mornings he operates the sound system during the worship service.  He ensures coffee is ready and also helps with the coffee roster.  As a custodian, Dave does the behind-the-scenes extra work that happens before and after the Sunday worship services, weddings, memorial services and funerals. He's a very valued member of Kirk United Church.

Darrel
Before Dave, there was Darrel.  Darrel has been at Kirk since the beginning.  In between church secretaries, while the position was vacant for a few months, Darrel ran the church office.  After the last secretary was hired, and after Dave began spending most of his time at the church, Darrel was able to take his free time back. Darrel still comes to the church during the week to challenge Dave for the Connect-4 Crown.
