Funerals and Memorials

Funeral/Memorial services are scheduled as the Church calendar and space permit, in the sanctuary or the chapel. The sanctuary can accommodate 300 - 400 people and the chapel is appropriate for more intimate services.
The upper auditorium can be utilized for a social time following the service. Our Administrator will connect you with our UCW Social Committee for more information or to make arrangements.
The officiating clergy will plan the service with the family members and/or friends of the deceased.
Other clergy may assist, and music must be approved by the Choir Director.
For more information, or to make an appointment with the minister, call 780-455-0453.
The Kirk Memorial Garden
The Kirk United Church Memorial Garden was established in 2002 to provide a place for the interment of ashes in a Christian setting and is intended as an alternative option to those provided by Edmonton cemeteries.
The Garden serves the needs of those families which choose cremation for their loved ones and provides a site for the interment of the cremains. All members and adherents of Kirk United Church, as well as other individuals at the Minister's and/or Board's discretion, may use the Garden.
Individuals wishing to make use of the Garden should contact the Minister or church office at 780-455-0453. Interment of ashes will be conducted by the Minister at a Committal Service when the Garden is suitable, i.e., late spring, summer and early autumn. Usually, urns containing cremains are stored in the funeral home until interment is possible.
Rose Garden
A "Living Memorial" rose can be purchased for $35. Each rose has a small name plate beside it listing the name of the loved one being remembered. Please contact the office for more information.
Kirk encourages bequests and donations above and beyond the above contribution to the Memorial Committee to help support the costs of establishing and maintaining the Memorial Garden, and for the important work of the church in local and global communities. Of course, all donations are tax deductible and Memorial Donations are listed in our Memorial Book displayed in the Narthex of the Church.
